Minutes Regular Meeting January 10, 2006

The Capitol Heights Civic Association held its regular meeting on January 10th, 2006 at the Capitol Heights United Methodist Church.  The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p. m. by Bob Knapp, President.

Guest speaker for the evening was Mary Ann Neely, a local historian. 

The Treasurer’s report was presented and is attached to these minutes.

Minutes for the December meeting were approved as read.

A “Capitol Heights” sign was installed at Upper Wetumpka Road and McCarter.   All signs purchased to date are now installed.  Discussion was held as to where to install additional signs.  Discussion occurred with no motion for action made at this time. 

Terry Robinson reported Board of Adjustment permission to install an accessory building on the church property is expected to be given at their meeting on January 23rd.

Tim Vaught reported he has encountered some difficulties in obtaining the (tree) grant funds from Auburn.  He will stay on top of this concern.  So far, 296 trees have been planted in Capitol Heights.  Trees remaining to be planted are primarily in our parks.  Tim committed to organize his Parks and Green space Committee regarding park planning and be prepared for discussion at the next Executive Committee meeting on 02/07/06.

Lynn Bryant announced the Merrill’s on St. Charles received ARB approval to install hardi plank siding.  The Capitol Heights Angels are scheduled to assist with installation on Saturday, January 21st at 8:00 a.m. 

Carol King announced to our group on January 14th a Cypress Creek Walk will be held.  The walk starts at oak Cemetery at 10:00.

Our Treasurer was reminded that it may be time to provide our annual contribution to the church for allowing us the use of their facilities for our meetings.  Mike Dapelo indicated our last check was given in April of last year.

Jewell Pitts announced Betty Vann was seriously hurt in an automobile accident.  A motion was made to the membership that a $50 gift certificate be given to Betty Vann for the tremendous job she did for the association in selling tickets.  The motion was seconded and approved.

A motion to adjourn was adopted.  The meeting was adjourned at 9:32 p. m.
