CAPITOL HEIGHTS CIVIC ASSOCIATION REGULAR MEETING
April 10, 2007

The Capitol Heights Civic Association held its regular meeting on April 10, 2007 at the Capitol Heights United Methodist Church. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p. m. by Helen Harris, President.

Tom Green from Eastside Realty was present to discuss his plans for his property at Madison Avenue and Vonora Street. He is in the process of requesting the property to be rezoned to business. Plans are to open an Antique store. A meeting will be arranged with Mr. Green and the Executive Committee.

Helen announced BONDS is expanding their monthly neighborhood meeting and now calling it a “Gathering of Neighborhoods”. The meetings occur at noon on the third Tuesday of every month. You can bring your own lunch or cal ahead to order a sack lunch for $5.00.

Our plan for the Moorer family had been to assist as we could to assure their return to the neighborhood. Since it has recently been announced they have filed suit against the city, the Executive Committee has decided it is best to step back and wait for any further assistance, if needed, to be requested.

Karren Pell has discussed concern regarding reconstruction with Tommy Nolan and he has suggested we send a friendly neighborly reminding them the property is zoned historic and construction has to be approved by the ARB.

After discussion, a motion was made to discontinue further activities for the Moorer family with no letter sent to the family. Motion was unanimously approved.

Cindy Keeping announced it is not too early to begin working on the Christmas float and asked for volunteers to assist.

Cindy Keeping is also striving to earn enough money through sales of advertisements to have a professionally printed newsletter that is mailed to residents of our neighborhood. Consideration is also being given to paying Girl Scout troops to deliver the newsletter.
