Minutes Regular Meeting April 11, 2006

CAPITOL HEIGHTS CIVIC ASSOCIATION REGULAR MEETING
April 11, 2006

The Capitol Heights Civic Association held its regular meeting on April 11th, 2006 at the Capitol Heights United Methodist Church. The meeting was called to order at 7:09 p. m.

The Treasurer’s report was presented and is attached to these minutes.

Minutes for the March meeting were approved as read.

Bob Knapp announced a work day is scheduled for Saturday, April 15th to continue to work on the storage shed installation. Members present were taken out to look at the shed and where it is installed on church property.

Flyers for an Easter Egg hunt scheduled for Friday, April 14th and sponsored by Councilwoman Janet May were shared with the members present.

Bob Knapp announced Linda Wool plans to meet one more time with the neighborhood on the plan. Announcements for this meeting will be made through her offices and we should all be on the look out for this.

Bob had requested a copy of the plan to have posted on our web site but they are not quite ready to go public with it.

Cindy Keeping and Terry Robinson will be meeting with the mayor tomorrow morning. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss improvements we would like to make to Armstrong Park and Mt. Miegs Road. The neighborhood will need assistance from the city, as well as this association to accomplish these plans.

A motion to have no guest speaker at our next association meeting was adopted.

A copy of the proposed changes to bylaws is attached and made part of these minutes.

A motion to vote section by section on the proposed changes to the bylaws was adopted.

A motion to accept changes as they were proposed to Section 4 of Article II Dues and Assessments was adopted.

A motion to accept changes as they were proposed to Section 3 and Section 4 of Article V Quorum was made and after discussion withdrawn.

A motion to table a decision on Section 4 of Article V Quorum and return this section to the Executive Committee for rewriting and presentation at next month’s meeting was adopted.

A motion to accept changes as they were proposed to Section 3 of Article V Quorum was adopted.

Nominations for 2006 – 2007 officer candidates were accepted.

Nomination of Helen Harris and Paul Rawlinson as candidates for President were adopted.

Nomination of Jewell Pitts and Cindy keeping as candidates for Vice President were adopted.

Nomination of Mike Dapelo as candidate for Treasurer was adopted.

Nomination of Cynthia McCollister as candidate for Secretary was adopted.

Nomination of Terry Robinson, Bob Knapp, Rebecca Williams, Lynn Bryant, Mary Louise Garrett, Lynn Frazier, Mark Weatherly, Carol King, Lisa Knapp, Paul Rawlinson and Barbara Hightower as Member at Large was adopted.

A motion to complete a mailer containing a Survey, Officer Ballot and dues reminder was adopted.

Lisa Knapp requested volunteers to help with Spring Fling on Saturday, April 22nd. Set up will begin around 9:30 AM and breakdown around 3:30 PM.

A motion to adjourn was adopted. The meeting was adjourned at 8:32 PM.
