A report was provided on the Christmas Tour:

• Four tickets have been given to WLBF-Faith radio to give away
• Tickets for pre-sale are available at: Capitol Grill, Old Alabama Town, Medicine Shoppe, Sandra Nichol Realty.
• Glenn Donald agreed to carry guests from 1733 Yancey to 33 N. Capitol since that walking distance is so long.
• Home helpers are still needed.
• Safety and security help are still needed.
• Horse and carriage rides are available for $7 ($5 to Willie and $2 to CHCA).
• Gloria Moore needs help on Saturday AM to deliver cookies. Cookies are to be delivered to Gloria’s home between 5-6 PM on Friday evening.
• Members will meet Saturday at 9AM at the shed to begin placing luminaries, signs, etc. Members will meet at 11:30 AM at the Church of Christ to set up everything else.

Cindy Keeping and Glenn Donald are investigating the possibility of forming an association to purchase the home at Pennsylvania and St. Charles. If renovating a property could be accomplished, publicity would be very positive for the neighborhood as a whole. We were asked that we consider this during our “marketing” processes.

The following motion was presented, seconded, discussed and unanimously approved:
Capitol Heights Civic Association takes the position that the Architectural Review Board’s guidelines or historic codes be adhered to .

We support staying with the guidelines. We want to protect our historic streetscapes. Parking is an issue as far as multifamily dwellings. We want to protect our historic facades and streetscapes.

The following motion was presented, seconded, discussed and unanimously approved:
Capitol Heights Civic Association supports Highland Park’s Neighborhood Association’s position relative to the property for sale by Eva Bank on Ann Street.

The tree ordinance was approved by the city.

Properties at the following locations were reported to have issues: at the corner of Florida / McKinley children are breaking windows; on Federal Drive a child was beaten by other children; and at the bus stop across from McDonalds on Madison Avenue school children waiting on the bus are causing mischief.

A suggestion was made that after the first of the year a Neighborhood Association emporium to discuss issue with other neighborhood leaders be held.

A motion to adjourn was adopted. The meeting was adjourned at 8:48 PM.
