CAPITOL HEIGHTS CIVIC ASSOCIATION REGULAR MEETING
May 8, 2007
The Capitol Heights Civic Association held its regular meeting on May 8, 2007 at the Capitol Heights United Methodist Church. The meeting was called to order at 7:20 p. m. by Helen Harris, President.
Helen shared information on four properties that have received complaints: abandoned building, sidewalks in a state of disrepair, automobiles parked on sidewalks, etc. Telephone numbers were shared for residents to call to report these complaints.
Attendees also discussed a property on South California Street. The owner is in a nursing home and the property is currently posted. The property has been cared for off and on for about three years. Agreement was reached to give this another month so that the family can be contacted.
Helen Harris opened the floor for additional officer nominations:
There were no further nominations for President.
Mark Lawrence declined his nomination for Vice President. There were no further nominations for Vice president.
There were no further nominations for Secretary.
There were no further nominations for Treasurer.
Marilyn Rutherford, Carol King and Ernest Lyons declined their nomination for Member at Large. Mark Lawrence accepted his nomination for Member at Larger.
A motion was made to close nominations for officers. Motion was carried.
After ballots were counted, the following persons were elected as officers for the 2007-2008 term of office:
President: Helen Harris
Vice President: Jewell Pitts
Treasurer: Mike Dapelo
Secretary: Cynthia McCollister
Members at Large: Cindy Keeping Randall Culp Joel Sanders
Terry Robinson Barbara Hightower Lynn Bryant
Cindy Thornhill
Elizabeth Schwarts made a suggestion that a consideration be given to a Business of the Month Award.
A motion to adjourn was adopted. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM.
